The Forgotten Garden

Jumping through time and perspective, in this novel Kate Morton journeys through a family secret.  On her 18th birthday, Nell is told my the man she always knew as her father that she is not their biological daughter.  Upon Nell’s death, her granddaughter Cassie takes up the search for Nell’s roots.

The trail leads both Nell and Cassie in different time frames to England, and atheforgottengardeb country manor that houses a maze that leads to a small cottage and a hidden garden.  Here, another story enfolds about an orphaned girl who wrote fairytales and the beautiful cousin she can deny nothing.

This started slowly, but eventually was worth the 20 hours of audio.  All of the narrators are interesting characters and there is a final twist at the end (although not totally unexpected). Many would enjoy this.
